STRING CAMP I
Latin Music Breakthrough Week — June 11-16
9-4 daily / performance on Saturday
In five days of fun, you will stretch your limits as a string player. We will cover beat patterns from Latin America, improvisation, orchestra, small groups, and even make a video! Join us June 11-15 and bring a lunch. The final concert will be Saturday morning.
9-4 daily / performance on Friday
Open a treasure chest of music for aspiring composers, songwriters, and lyricists. Musician/songwriters David Hinson and Peter Simon will help you explore the process from conception, composition, collaboration, and recording. All backgrounds welcome: strummers to readers, beginners to veteran musicians.
Become a member of “the band” this summer and experience gig life in your own Garage Band. Open to middle and high school students who already know their instruments, the week will teach you to play charts and collaborate with multiple instruments. Calling keyboardists, drummers, and guitar, horn and bass players. End with a performance for your adoring fans.
Get ready to jam! We’ll learn Cajun, Bluegrass, Old-Timey, and Celtic fiddle tunes, plus the basics of backup (chording) and soloing. Join us July 16-20 and bring a lunch. The final concert will be Saturday morning.
What has 4 hands, 6 hands, and, some times, 8 hands? Pianopalooza! Playing the piano takes a wild, free-for-all when piano ensembles, duets and multiple pianos take over the Music Tree. Have fun making music with other piano students – two at one piano, four at two pianos . This will be loads of fun!
Learning to play the piano gives young children a multitude of benefits. Summer is a great time to introduce piano to your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grader in a group setting. This low-stress approach will get your young musician ready to continue learning the piano in private lessons.
Traditional instruments will take a backseat when computers become the vehicle for music-making. If you want to write and record your own music, you will love this option. Learn to use digital audio program software and the basics of song composition and digital music production. Camp instructors with real-world music production experience teach you how to record, mix, edit and produce digital music.
